Ceramic Blades

In most slitting applications, ceramic blades will give you about 100 times the life of conventional steel blades.

Why Is Ceramic Better Than Steel?

Hot isostatic pressed (HIP) ceramic is transformation-toughened to make it the ideal material for slitter blades. The extreme hardness (equivalent to Rockwell Rc75) of ceramic contributes to significantly longer blade life, resulting in fewer machines downtime and increased productivity.

Ceramic slitters produce precision cuts time after time. The inherent physical properties and sub-micron grain structure of ceramic result in an exceptionally smooth cutting surface that has a very low coefficient of friction. These qualities ensure a cutting edge that remains razor-sharp, allowing consistent slitting with less material waste.

Unlike steel blades, ceramic slitters are corrosion- and abrasion-resistant, making them the most durable slitter available. These features help the blades retain their razor-sharp edges, allowing much more sustained durability than conventional steel blades.

Tungsten Blades

These blades consistently outperform standard steel and coated blades by as much as 500 times!

Why Is Tungsten Better Than Steel?

Being inherently sharper, tungsten blades can cut smoother and cleaner, producing better quality products and fewer scraps. In addition, they can be re-sharpened, which gives additional cost savings.

They have been proven outstanding in cutting:

  • Coated Film and Foil
  • Highly Filled Film
  • Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)
  • Synthetic Fibers
  • Other Problem Materials
